Dear Sir:

The Foundation for Amateur Radio wishes to inform you of an operation of a Marine and recommends a commendation for an outstanding Amateur and his operation as described below.

On or about 23 April 1965, 1st/Sgt Kinsman G. Boso, Chief Operator at Amateur Radio Station W4NTR, Marine Corps Headquarters, Arlington, Virginia, established and controlled a net of Amateur Radio Stations, providing the only communications link between the United States and the Dominican Republic.  This net has been very beneficial to the U.S. Department of State, Organization of American States, the Pan American Union, the International Red Cross, and many other agencies, embassies and individuals in locating loved ones and conducting emergency communications.

1st/Sgt Boso has shown exceptional devotion to Amateur radio Public Service work by operating W4NTR from 0630 to 2330 (or as long as communications were possible), passing messages, running phone patch traffic and operating a clearing house for health and welfare inquiries, on a seven day a week basis.

Many other Stations in the Washington area have kept this net going and are to be commended, but 1st/Sgt Boso was directly responsible for its beginning.

Sincerely yours,

Cleo N. Bushey K3IYJ
