Personal Amateur call sign was
KR6AR (Okinawa 1961-1963); operated KR6DI (Camp Butler) and KR6GF (Sukiran)
on Okinawa from 1961-1963 as a Corporal E-4 in the USMC; they were USMC
Special Services amateur radio stations that ran phone patch and written
traffic. I affiliated with MARS on Okinawa at KR6GF and later as a
civilian with my personal civilian amateur call sign K9EHS (Wisconsin) but
I was relatively inactive and I have no other record or recollections. I
did win the QST International DX competition (Far Eastern CW Division) in
Okinawa 1961 during off-duty hours using my personal KR6AR call sign and
the USMC 100-foot high, three-curtain, rhombic antenna at Camp Courtney
pointed toward W6IAB at Camp Pendleton (see QST October 1962 page 46)
I have continued operating
amateur radio as an attorney with BSEE and Doctor of Law degrees.
