OBITUARIES
Bob Jensen
Bob Jensen, 75, veteran audio engineer at NBC,
died Sept. 8 at his home in Sherman Oaks after a long illness.
After
early work in Lincoln, Neb., and Denver, Jensen became an audio engineer
at NBC Radio in Chicago in 1937 and over the next six years worked on many
dramatic broadcasts as well as "Carnation Contented Hour," "Don McNeill's
Breakfast Club" and "Farm & Home Hour."
In 1943 he
moved to NBC in Hollywood, where he handled sound on shows starring Eddie
Cantor and Buddy dark, "Standard Symphony*' and the traveling "Army
Hour."
During
television's early years, he did "All Star Revue," Dinah Shore's daily
show and "This Is Your Life," and also worked on many game shows. He did
many remotes, from political conventions, sporting events, the Apollo
astronauts' landing in the South Pacific and at the Western White House
at San Clemente.
Upon his
retirement in 1975, he became technical advisor for Recording for the
Blind Inc. and helped Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters equip its clubroom as a
replica of an early radio studio.
He is
survived by his wife, actress Lenore Kingston, a son, daughter and six
grandchildren.
