Frederic Elliot Berman of Atlanta, age 73, wandered off this mortal coil
on Sunday, July 9, 2006.
Fred was born June 28, 1933, in Montgomery, Alabama, and was the son of
Isidore and Jeanne Berman of Montgomery. He served in the US Marines in
Korea. Fred earned his Bachelor and Master of Science in electrical
engineering from Georgia Tech where he lettered in track and field. Fred
also earned a PhD. in Business Administration from Georgia State
University. Breaking the existing SEC Shot-put record propelled him to the
U.S. Olympic trials and won him a place in the Georgia Tech Athletic Hall
of Fame.
After an engineering career in the oil servicing industry, including
Schlumberger, Fred entered the executive search field, later forming the
Berman Consulting Group. He taught in the College of Managements at
Georgia Tech. Fred's last job was a professor of International Business at
American Intercontinental University.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Knight H. Berman
of Montgomery. He is survived by his wife Tanya Ostrovsky-Berman and
former wife Jane Berman, two daughters, Jordan (husband Terry) Silliman
and Blair Berman, and one granddaughter Maggie Silliman. He is also
survived by one brother Robert J. Berman of Chattanooga, TN.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, July 16, 2006, at 1:00 pm at
Wages & Sons Chapel.
