A Friend of Mine
Old Glory is a friend of mine
I’ve seen her fly
Come rain or shine
She gets her strength
From the Lord Devine
Who also is a Friend of mine.
I’ve seen her ripped
and torn to tatters
By people who think
they know what matters
If only they knew
her from my view
Oh we could tell them All
a thing or two.
The sight of her
brings hope to billions
Protects the rights
of misled hellions
She led the way
in our great rebellion
Preserved our country
And upheld the union
I’ve risked my life
to uphold her creed
I’d do it again
To help her succeed
Her goal is to see
all men freed
And help those people
who are in need.
So if you see her
coming down the street
Pay some respect
and get on your feet
She ignites a passion
in my heart beat
She takes the lead
She doesn’t retreat
