William V.
Gallagher, III, WA3IRY, Silent Key at Age 75.
Bill died
from a heart attack on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 at Oak Crest Village where
he and his wife resided for seven years.
A native
Baltimorean, he attended local schools and Valley Forge Military Academy.
He took accounting courses at McCoy while in the ESSO (oil company)
training program. He later became a sales rep for Hill Stapler Company.
After retiring, he enjoyed being a marshal at the Pine Ridge Golf Course.
His
avocations included singing, duplicate bridge and ham radio. He was

Grand Slam Duplicate Bridge Club in his home for over twenty-five years.
As a young man, he was active in the Towson Jaycees, and currently was a
member of the Oak Crest Computer Club, Baltimore Civil Defense, and
Baltimore Amateur Radio Club. Jim Green, a long—time friend said, “Bill
will be sorely missed by the Monday night ham radio group. Mr. Gallagher
was very proud of his commendations from Navy/MARS Military Affiliate
Radio System for the untold hours spent relaying messages to and from the
Antarctic naval base, sending replies to stateside relatives before the
use of satellites.
In 1956,
he married Anna J. Flechuck at St. Philip & James Church where they met in
the choir.
A
Catholic Mass was celebrated at Oak Crest Village chapel on Wednesday,
followed by interment in the family plot at Druid Ridge Cemetery. He is
