Michael Stephen Trombetta

Happy Camp resident, Michael Stephan Trombetta, 57, passed away Nov. 17, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, following an accident at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Nov. 25 at the Happy Camp Grange. Pastor Kirk Eadie of the Happy Camp Christian Fellowship will officiate.

Mike was born July 29, 1946 in Bakersfield. He moved to Siskiyou County in 1992 from San Ramon.

Mike held an Associate of Science in Electronic Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an MBA in Business Administration. He also held an FCC First Class Radio Telephone License, FCC Extra Class Amateur Radio License, and was an FCC volunteer examiner.

 

As a past board member and employee of the Karuk Community Development Corporation, Mike participated in founding the Happy Camp Community Computer Center, where he worked as director for 6 years.

Mike was also an integral part of founding the Orleans Community Computer Center. In 1998, the year the computer center opened, Mike received the Happy Camp High School Community Member of the Year award. He also worked for the Karuk Tribe of California as the information technology manager.

Over the last 10 years Mike had participated in many organizations and activities within the community, including but not limited to chief technician of Slater Butte Translator Company, Happy Camp Action Committee member, a board member of Happy Camp Health Services, Karuk Community Development Corporation and Happy Camp Achievement Program.

Mike was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran from Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Trombetta of Happy Camp; his parents, Ralph Nicholas and Alma Trombetta of Bakersfield; brother-in-law, Gary Edmondson of Arcata; sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Mike Stone of Bakersfield; niece Melissa Stone; and a nephew, Tim Stone.

Allen and Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding are handling the arrangements.
