Oscar Shelton, 67 

Oceanside – Oscar Shelton, 67, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997 at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla. 

Born Dec. 21, 1929, in North Carolina, he lived in Oceanside for 31 years.  A retired Marine Corps Master Sergeant, he was a former Special Agent for the Secret Service, serving on President Nixon’s protective staff.  He was a member of the North Star Masonic Lodge No. 227 and the Al Bahr Shrine of San Diego. 

Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bobbie Shelton of Oceanside, son and daughter-in-law James G. and Deborah Shelton of Vista; daughter and son-in-law Cynthia and Walter Windrum of Vista; grandchildren Heather Storms, Jeremy Shelton, Shawna, Michael and John Windrum; and great-grandchild Aaron Storms. 

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 23. at Eternal Hills Mortuary.  A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Eternal Hills Mortuary, with the Rev. Wally Rice officiating.  Internment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.   

Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.

I started at N0EFA in 1966, working for GySgt Oscar Shelton (God rest his soul, he was a wonderful fellow).
