Had a ham ticket when I enlisted
in the Seabees and rating was construction electrician. I guess that
info was on papers that went to the battalion for selection of the radio
ops. It was very rewarding to run phone patches for the guys to talk
to their loved ones back home. The day the ammo dump at Dong Ha was
hit ran a patch from my foxhole on the in country net for the C.O. to
DaNang as other communications were knocked out.
