Gary Grahn
Navy-Marine Corps MARS
NNN0EIP |
Started in MARS while stationed in Guantanamo Bay Cuba
because it was the only cost effective way of making calls off-island.
After transferring to Instructor Duty in San Diego, I was selected to kick
off the West Coast area MARS Afloat program as NNN0PPF/NNN0ASE11. The
position had to be handed over with my transfer to Diego Garcia, after
which I found myself (and my crew) being serviced by my past west coast
affiliates while serving on USS WHIPPLE, home-ported in Pearl Harbor, and
making two deployments to the Persian Gulf. I later found myself on USS
DWIGHT D EISENHOWER, home-ported in Norfolk, VA, where I
refurbished, reactivated and rewired the MARS station and served as the MARS
Officer during deployments.
