I was the chief
operator at the USMC White Beach amateur station on Okinawa (KR6MA) from
1962 through 1963. This was a MARS affiliate site running phone patch
traffic for all military branches to the U.S.
In 1979 I was a
civilian electronics technician aboard the National Ocean Survey research
vessel Miller Freeman and ran phone patch message traffic from the Bering
Sea & the Pacific Ocean
I gained a
considerable amount of valuable experience through MARS.
