Navy-Marine Corps MARS in Vietnam

Home Up

Alpha Golf One Bravo Tango

Otis AFB, Falmouth, MA

Was assigned to the MARS station out of tech school. Probably the most memorable experience was when President Kennedy's plane, AF1, called to let us know he would be landing in a few and taking a chopper to the hospital. At that time I didn't have a clue who AF1 was.  Had to look it up in the call book.  We were in the hospital complex, so we saw him quite a bit when he was visiting Jackie when she had John.  We use to eat lunch with his secret service people.

Got me familiar with radio operations.  I have enjoyed the use of radio comm over the years.  Itís nice to meet people you have talked with.
