WE REMEMBER YOU”

We remember you, this Memorial Day

the young men and women of our country.

Those struck down, that terrible day so long ago in December.

The men of the Arizona, the West Virginia, the Oklahoma,

and Hickham Field.

The young men and women of our youth

Who answered our nations call to fight

on Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Bataan, Corregidor, Anzio,

and the skies over Germany and on the beaches of Normandy.

You fought with courage for our country and our freedom.

We see your young faces in faded photographs and we remember you.

Our best and bravest fought yet again.

On the battlefields of Korea,

On Porkchop Hill, Pusan, Inchon and at the 38th Parallel

Making the ultimate sacrifice.

We see your young faces in faded photographs and we remember you.

Again you were called, our best and bravest,

to a war we did not understand,

to fight in the jungles of Viet Nam,

in places like Da Nang, Quang Tri,

the Mekong Delta and the Ho Chi Minh trail.

You returned home, not to a heroes welcome

There was no parade for you.  No Welcome Home.

We remember you our husbands, our sons, our brothers, and our fathers,

Many who died in an unpopular war.

We see your young faces in photographs and we remember you.

We asked you again, our best and our bravest to go

to Desert Storm to fight in the sands of Kuwait and Iraq.

We see your young faces and we remember you.

To all of you who served our country in war and in peacetime

We remember you and your sacrifice for our country and our freedom.

Our country has called again, our best and our bravest,

to fight another war in the deserts of Iraq.

This Memorial Day let us remember, our young men and women

in the far corners of the world, serving our country.

Each day we see your faces in the nightly news,

and we remember you in our prayers.

God Bless You and Keep You in His Care
