Gary Cain, 65, of Shakopee, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 at his
residence.
Gary was born on Sept. 22, 1940 in N.D. and was the
adopted son of Louis and Rose Cain. Gary attended school in Stanley, N.D.
He served his country by entering the US Marine Corp in 1957 as a sergeant
and was stationed in Okinawa. During his years in the military, Gary
received his GED. He was honorably discharged in 1963. He received his
B.A. degree at Minot State College, B.S. at University of North Dakota.
Gary worked at Honeywell Corporation of Minneapolis and Texas Instruments
in Corpus Christi, Texas. He furthered his education with a MBA from
University of Texas and his Ph.D. at the University of Oregon. He was an
Assistant Professor of Finance at St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind.
He also taught at the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul and Normandale
Community College in Bloomington. Upon his retirement he continued to
serve as a financial advisor for many investors including the Belle Plaine
Lutheran Home. Gary was a member and past president of QCWA (Quarter
Century Wireless Association) of amateur radio operators for over
twenty-five years. Gary was very active in his church, Mount Olivet
Lutheran Church, Shakopee. He served as Recording Secretary on the church
council, the finance committee, was an usher and helped with many other
volunteer positions.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by sister, Mary (Robert) Nikols of Killdeer, N.D.;
niece, Kristi Hawk of Minot, N.D.; many friends.
Funeral service was Friday, Sept. 1, 2 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral
Home, Shakopee with the Rev. Mark Schwertfeger presiding. Visitation was
one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
